Today is another sunny day with bright yellow leaves peeking through the remaining green leaves. Hard to believe that in another few weeks the leaves will mostly be gone and winter will be approaching. Oh well, it would be boring to always wake up to sunshine.....wouldn't it? As though to complete my fantasy, we celebrated my husband's birthday with a few days in Bermuda waking to sunshine and humidity every day. This was one of those spur of the moment vacations. I asked 'what would you like to do for your birthday?' He responded with, 'oh I don't care.' I said, 'let's go to Bermuda.' So we did. It was wonderful except there was a bit too much humidity...almost 80%
at 10 a.m. For touring around the city on foot, 85 degrees and 80
percent humidity was HOT!!! We persevered, however, and traveled from one end of
the island to the other. No, really, we did. Well, maybe not totally on foot. We did use the
bus and ferry, but we had to walk around a lot, but we did see much of the island. Next time we'll have to spend more time at The Dockyard and St. George and get out to Horse Shoe Bay. Our resort had it's own
beach so we did enjoy the warm Atlantic but alas, it did not have pink sand. I was surprised to find the
water so warm but that's what gives Bermuda its year-round temperate
climate and makes it such a lovely place to visit. It was quite charming and the flight was only an hour and 40 minutes. We made our reservations through
Cheap Caribbean on line. It is a great site. We selected
Grotto Bay since it is the only all-inclusive report on Bermuda. It was lovely with exceptionally friendly staff and amenities. It had several roosters and hens which just love to be fed. Whenever I opened the balcony door, they came running. It is near the airport but there is no noise. Each guest is given a pass for bus and ferry and there are bus stops right in front of the resort, for easy transportation around the island. If you want a lovely and warm place to go, give Bermuda a chance. Here are some pictures of our trip.
